Labor Day weekend marks return of Pioneer Auto Show’s iconic big green car sign

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 02, 2011 - MURDO, S.D. – Pioneer Auto Show's big green car sign has been resurrected just in time for Labor Day weekend.

On June 30, the sign blew down when a storm hit Murdo. Winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour knocked the sign on its side. After months of reconstruction, the sign – featuring a '26 Nash – is ready to be displayed again.

"We've worked with sign companies throughout the summer bmw in order to have the sign back by Labor Day," said David M. Geisler of the family-owned classic car museum. "As families are traveling through the area for the holiday, they will see chevrolet our big green car sign once again pointing them to Murdo and Pioneer Auto Show."

The Pioneer Auto Show sign has become a landmark for people traveling to Murdo since 1972, when Inters corsa tate 90 opened. The big green car was added to the sign in 1981.

To accommodate more parking at the nearby Super 8 Motel, the sign was moved and rebuilt in 1993. That same year, a Daktronics reader board added to the sign, which was destroyed in June's storm. An updated reader b buick oard has been constructed for the new Pioneer Auto sign.

"It took months of labor, but we are thrilled to have our sign back up now," said Geisler. "The sign has been symbolic for the museum for decades."
